Hi Claire: Please tell your mum that we are all keeping well and I hope that you are all well too. I’m glad you saw Jen today as I had contacted her yesterday so she probably told you about the photo she has of all the Huckins siblings, including your grandfather Les and her mother. It really is a treasure and I hope that someone in your family has a copy of it too.
If you would like, or need, to contact me ever, Jen has my email address. It would be lovely to stay in touch. All the best to you and your family.
Hi Barb, thank you for the welcome. Mum says "hi" and sends best wishes and hopes you are keeping well in this strange world we find ourselves living in at the moment.
I am also very interested in the Huckins side of the family, in fact I saw Jen earlier today as I was walking around the village and we were talking about it. Is the Huckins side also of interest to you?
Hello Claire. Welcome to the Oliver Family History website. There is a wealth of information about your great grandmother, Miriam Shearer, and her brothers and their families on the website. I’m sure you’ll enjoy going through it all. I grew up in Stonesfield, but now live in Canada, and your mum, Rachel, and her cousin, Natalie Shearer, were friends of mine. Please say “hi” to your mum from me, and give her my best wishes.
Just one question: are you interested in the Huckins side of your family as well?
I have just found this site and thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Claire, I live in Stonesfield and I am researching my Griffin/Shearer ancestors. My Mum is Rachel Huckins, youngest daughter of Amy Shearer and Leslie Huckins who had the shop on The Cross in Stonesfield. My Great Grandmother was Miriam Griffin, who married Duncan Shearer.
This site is a goldmine of information and I look forward to further reading!
