Hello Shane

I was at the funeral - I was the first grand-daughter to do a reading of my memories of Gramps.

I listened to the interview you did with him, it was a lovely find, brought a tear to my eye. He was a great Gramps who I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of my youth with living so close. As I did with Great Grampy Dempsey and Great Nan. Its funny, when I first came across your sight I had to ask my mum what my great grampy's name was, for I only ever knew him as Grampy Dempsey, not Fred.

The family tree with pictures is brilliant. I recognised Edward Oliver straight away - that actual photo was always on the wall of nanna and gramps house in Bicester for as long as I remember. And Fredrick Oliver and Lily Gough. Seeing the family map out is brilliant.

My girls were very taken by the dinosaur connection. We have been to the Pitts Rivers Museum in Oxford many times over the years and I always point out the Stonesfield connection with the bones. Now I have an even better link!

Great site.

Bye for now

Tanya

Hi Tanya,

Great that you've found the messageboard here, thanks for joining and posting!

Really nice to make the connection, I met your Grandad several times, and Clive also, I expect we were both at your Grandad's lovely service back in January.

We are all in the same part of the Oliver family tree, you might be interested to see this thread on the messageboard here http://oliverfamilyhistory.activeboard.com/t59616198/naughty-edward-and-his-branch-of-the-oliver-family-my-own-li/.

This messageboard is also part of wider Oliver family website that you might be interested to look at http://www.oliverfamilyhistory.co.uk, and I wonder if you found the below which is your Grandad sharing some of this memories of growing up in Stonesfield?

OK, thanks for now Tanya,

Shane

Hello. I have just stumbled across this sight and thought I would introduce myself! I am one of the grand daughters of William (from Stonesfield) and Audrey Oliver. I lived in Stonesfield from 1973 until 1990's. My Dad is still there! My mother Sheron Oliver was born in Stonesfield, daughter to William and Audrey, with siblings Clive, Fay and Ashley. My great grandparents (Williams parents) lived down Coombe Hill, Earnest William Oliver and Christine Elizabeth Morris. Bye for now, Tanya
