Hello Jane,

Thanks for the tip regarding new Warwickshire Records.  I am sure I will find time to browse them at some time.  Life is pretty hectic at present - workmen have been in and I am still trying to trap the dust and grit.

We always appreciate the work you do for the Oliver Clan.

Have a good summer.

Regards,   Irene

Hello all!  Sorry for the long silence, but 2012 has been a bit of a trying year for me so far.

Just a quick bump to this thread, to say that Ancestry has added more Warwickshire goodies, as outlined here.  Some of the records are too late, being after the Oliver migration to Oxfordshire, but there's some earlier stuff too, such as hearth tax returns.

Hello Jane

Don't despair!  I look at the forum everyday too and I don't know where we would be without your help and encouragement.  Please don't give up

I'm feeling a bit isolated myself at the moment as I've had a major breakthrough with my maternal Grampy's family (not an Oliver and not from Oxfordshire). Something I have been picking away at for years and now I've had a 'punching the air' discovery and none of that part of my family are the slightest bit interested!

Linda

Hello Jane,

Irene calling.  Yes it is a bit quiet out there.  When I have finished the washing, ironing, gardening, shopping, cooking etc. I intend looking at some of those records.  When I first read your piece this morning I nearly replied straight away with - I hope I will not be adding any more names to my Christmas Card List!!

I see we have a newbie from Canada.

I usually have a peek at e.mails, facebook and Oliver Fam.Hist. every morning but never seem to get time to do anything about things.  Perhaps things will change when the winter comes and there is less to do outside.

What you do and write is always appreciated.

Take care.

Irene

Hi Jane,

You made me think of a Pink Floyd song there!

Really sorry, I've been planning to sit down at the PC all weekend and do a couple posts to the messageboard here, as always, the weekend has come and gone in a flash and I'm only just getting around to it, so my apologies for not responding sooner.

Alas, thanks for pointing out the Warwickshire updates to Ancestry, that's obviously a really important set of records for our earliy Olivers and I've not been kepeing up with recent Ancestry.co.uk updates so thanks for raising awareness.

I've don't actually have a death for our Josiah yet, so maybe this might help with that.

I am out here, the rest world is still alive and kicking smile

Thanks
Shane

Am I the only one left on this forum?

If you're out there, please talk to me . . . to reassure me that the rest of the world still exists.

Good news for all you lucky folks who have Warwickshire ancestors . . . which is anyone descended from Josiah Oliver I think?

Digital images of Warwickshire parish registers are now online on Ancestry.  You can browse by parish or search by name.  I did a few Oliver searches to see what happened, and the Long Compton ones did pop up.  There's also a separate section for 'Miscellaneous parish records', images only, which you can browse by parish.  There's all sorts there, such as poor rates, settlement/removal papers, etc. (but nothing for Long Compton that I could see: perhaps more will come later?)

Jane, who has no Warwickshire ancestors as far as she knows cry
