I echo Barb's message, welcome, and thanks for joining the messageboard here!
You are indeed the first descendant we have on the messageboard who now lives in Scotland - there are at least 4 or 5 other Scottish connections in the family story that I know of to date, amongst them, Gilbert Oliver, son of Ambrose Oliver who died during WW1 in the Kilmacolm district of Renfrewshire and another son Alec was stationed in Elie, Fife during the 1950's - there is another family of descendants who I have liaised with who left Oxfordshire for Scotland back in the 1970's I believe, though they're not here on the messageboard.
Again, as Barb say, I look forward to us hopefully sharing information and helping each other along - that's what its all about.
Welcome aboard. I've been following this Oliver Family History website for about a year now and I think you may be the first Scottish member of the family to come aboard, so Shane will now be able to add the Scottish Highlands to the map!
There has been quite a bit of discussion about Solomon - he led a very interesting life - but as far as I can remember no one has been able to solve some of the mystery around Maria and Sophia. If there's more information I'm sure either Jane or Shane will get back to you. They seem to have magic wands (or shovels)when it comes to digging up facts!

My name is Helen and I am a direct descendant of Solomon Oliver through his daughter Prudence, born to his wife Maria Butcher. Prudence's son Ellis was my great grandfather. I am intrigued by the story of Solomon, and would love to know if anyone has more information about his relationship with Sophia Greenway - does anyone know if she was actually the mother of all his other children as is indicated on the Saunders/Gamage family tree?
I live in the Scottish Highlands, but I was in Stonesfield in June, sorry I missed the Oliver family day - it looked like a great event.
