After a week of research, very interesting. We are directly related on my fathers side to the Oliver's of Finstock with a William Crews Oliver 1865 who married Sophia Pratley also from Finstock.
Eric Oliver's son (Geoff) who lives in Clifton Hampton has just told me that his mum did mention Annie Allaway in the past.... but he could not remember the conversation until today.
I've had a quick look at this and I've found a family which it could be but the name Ellen for your Great Grandmother doesn't fit. The family I found was William Albert Oliver married to Annie Allaway. They were married in 1912 in Eynsham (Oxfordshire) and the names of their children seem to fit the names mentioned in the article in the Church paper. Maybe Annie was called Annie Ellen (Ellen was her Mother's name) and she preferred to use the name Ellen. Let me know if you think this is the right family. There are several family trees on Ancestry for this family.
My name is Richard Oliver, son of Christopher Oliver, son of Jack Oliver and that is where our story ends for now. Attached is an article from the local church paper in 1935 from the village of Chiselhampton in Oxfordshire. My great grandmother was Ellen Oliver but we do not know much yet about her husband other then he came from Finstock. He was a tenant farmer so I assume his family was in the same line of work in Finstock? Any information is welcome from the Finstock line of Oliver's.
Now my family of Oliver's live and work in Sweden.
