Dissertation: How do family historians use libraries and archives? - Ian Thompson's daughter
Permalink

Hi everybody,

My name is Laura Thompson, Ian Thompson's daughter. I attended the Oliver family history day with my dad in 2016 and it was marvellous! I have been compiling my granny's memoirs on and off for the last 10 years or so. I have also gained information about my paternal grandfather, whose mother was Elsie Oliver. I also have some artefacts from other members of the family such as postcards from Matilda Oliver (who is referred to as Auntie Till) and information from Linda Tomline about our family. She has been very helpful.

For my master's degree at the University of Sheffield in Library and Information Service Management, I have decided to conduct a research study for my dissertation title: 'How do family historians use libraries and archives?'. This will be via an online questionnaire. If you would like to take part, please could you email me at ljthompson3@sheffield.ac.uk so I can email you a questionnaire. If you have any queries about the questionnaire, please contact me at that email address or my supervisor Andrew Cox at a.m.cox@sheffield.ac.uk

Thank you very much,

Yours faithfully,

Laura Thompson
