OBIT: MICHAEL WICKSON (1930 - 2014):
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Michael Wickson of Water Lane. Michael, Joyce and Suzanne came to live n Ardley-with-Fewcott about 30 years ago now and we have been shocked at his death on 7th March this year. Michael, unfortunately, lost Joyce four years ago. He was a man who was always ready and willing to help out with the annual Church Fete being one of the stalwarts doing a stint of watching for children’s safety on the Bouncy Castle and for many years he voluntarily delivered the Three Parishes here. He was a really quiet, gentle and friendly man whose main hobby was railways. He liked nothing better than
going on special train journeys all over the country and even took Suzanne, who is handicapped, with him on some of these. On one occasion, when with Suzanne in London, he unfortunately fell partly down an escalator and had to be taken to a London Hospital. Luckily he was able to return home quickly. However, recently on that extremely cold night earlier this year, he fell in his garden and spent five hours outside being unable to get up. He was found by Suzanne’s carer in the morning and rushed to the Horton Hospital suffering from hypothermia. He recovered enough to return home but did not fully recover his health and following another fall at home he became weakened and died in  the Horton. To Suzanne and Michael’s family we send our heartfelt sympathies.
