Thanks Linda and Barb for the feedback, good know we've had a few listeners of Billy - I agree completely about the accent and dialect, for me that one of the most enjoyable things about listening, that lovely old West Oxfordshire tongue.

I will try and work on something for both of those ideas you have suggested too!

Thanks again for the messages both!

Shane

...something else I've just thought of Shane - John Fudge would remember not only Millie's brothers and sisters but also her Dad, Frank (your great grandfather).  He also knew Bill Reynolds and my Dad's brother, Henry.  I'm sure there would be some stories worth recording.

What a wonderful idea Shane.  I agree with everything Linda has said.  I look forward to hearing more of these interviews.  Would it be possible to include John Fudge (Millie's husband - so only an Oliver by marriage) recalling life when he was growing up?

Shane this is a brilliant idea.  Local dialect is so difficult to write down and the only way to really appreciate it is to hear it spoken.  Not only will these interviews preserve the sound of our wonderful West Oxfordshire accent but it will bring back memories for all our Oliver's who are now living thousands of miles away from Oxfordshire and for those that were born thousands of miles away, and have never had the opportunity to visit,  they will now be able to hear the dialect of  their ancestors.

I would also like to take this opportunity to make a request!  At the Family History Day you had a recording of someone reading a poem about Stonesfield - is it possible to put this recording on Olivox?

Bye for now - Linda

Hi All,

The next time you open up www.oliverfamilyhistory.co.uk please could you press the F5 key on your keyboard - why?, well, if you don't already see it, this will refresh your screen and you should then see a new option in the top menu, OliVox.

So what is OliVox. Its something I've been thinking about doing for a while and hope to progress further this year. It's all about capturing and sharing Oliver memories in the spoken word, real people, real voices, real stories.

I've added a first instalment today to get us going, it's an interview with Billy Oliver who lived and grew up in Stonesfield in the 1930's and 40's. It was great spending the afternoon with him talking through his thoughts and I hope you enjoy it too.

Please do let me know what you think, good or bad, any issues you had accessing or listening, all feedback very much welcomed.

Thanks for now,
Shane
