Thanks for that Barb, good to see you're safely back home and back online. You're right, whilst the internet is a wonderful thing and its helped us enormously in stitching together different parts of the family tree, there isn't anything quite like getting together properly and it was just great to see so many people meeting up and talking over coffee and cake! Here's to the Oliver Family indeed!

I was sorry to hear of your fall Betty, I hope you're making a full and speedy recovery? - we were recording some of the the day on film again so amongst other things I'm hopeful there will be a snippet or two of the Solomon Oliver song in action which I will include in a little highlights of the day video that I'll create - so do watch this space!

Thanks,
Shane

To all Olivers

I have just looked at the wonderful photo of the 2014 Family History Day.  My daughter and I were so sorry and disappointed not to have attended.  I was visiting Tilbury Fort in Essex on 25th Sept and foolishly tripped up a stone step and spent 45 hours in A&E.   We were also going to stay in Oxford and have a look round at the churches etc.  I can see by all the smiling faces that you all had an enjoyable day - thanks again to the hard work of  Shane.    I was so looking forward to the song about Solomon Oliver (my Gt.Gt.Grandfather).  Perhaps it may be possible to get a copy of the words?   I did send an e-mail to you Shane on Saturday evening 27th but expect you were busy preparing for the Family Day.

Quite a few new photos since I last looked especially the one of Richard Barratt Oliver so will have to do some investigating.

Hi Everyone:

I'm back in Canada and have access to the Internet once again!

I just wanted to thank Shane for organizing the Family History Day. What a wonderful afternoon it was. It was good to meet you, Linda, and Jane, even though our chat was brief. I'm glad that I can now put faces to many of the names I've seen on the Messageboard. I so enjoyed talking to everyone. Thanks again Shane for all the work you do, adding pieces to the 'Oliver' puzzle and especially making it possible for us to meet one another.

Here's to the Oliver Family. May we continue to grow and thrive.

Barb

I like the group photo Shane.  I wonder if there will be a group of our descendants looking at this in a 100 years time.  Have you noticed how many of us have our hands clasped together?  Must be something in the genes.

Linda

Ahh, well thank you Linda, that's lovely and I'm pleased you had another enjoyable day - I have to say I really enjoyed it myself, but it flew by so quickly.

Thank you also for your not insignificant part in the day, your wonderful photographs for us all to enjoy and of course your equally wonderful cakes (or so I'm told, yet again they were all gone by the time I got to the table, no better praise than that for your baking skills!)

I'll get the group photo up on the site in the next day or two and try not to be too many weeks with the video this time!!

Speak soon!
Shane

Thank you Shane for another wonderful Oliver Family day.

The talk by Shaun Morley was excellent.  It was good to meet you Barb, there was so much going on we didn't get much time to chat.  I was pleased to be able to pass on the copy of the birth certificate to Richard Barratt Oliver's family, again we didn't get much time to chat.  All the photographs and the bits and pieces of information and family stories contributed through the day by all the 'Olivers' - fantastic. Good to talk to you again Jane.  The singing finale - what a bonus.

And - on behalf of myself, my sister and my cousins - A big big thank you to you Shane for all your hard work in organising this event for us all.

Linda
