RE: Finstock Olivers - Children of Herbert Henry Oliver and Jayne (nee Holyfield)

Hi Rose

I checked out the tree's enclosed in this post and we are related !

I've just joined the OliverfamilyHistory page a few days ago page and through the enclosed I now believe you to be

my 6th Cousin 1x removed (that's how ancestry defines you !)

The link is through Herbert and Jayne Oliver. Herbert was my 4th Cousin 3x removed.

Its always nice to be able to email a living relative.

My tree is on ancestry if you are interested and you are now in it !

Best Wishes

Kevin Oliver

Hi Rose,

Excellent to see all those details on your branch.

I can help with a few circa dates of registration for you, the ancestry system primarily works in quarters so no specific dates (other than where a birth date is recorded as part of a daeth record).

John Oliver, married Enid Haysman Jan-Feb-Mar 1943, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Enid Oliver, died 1947, aged 23, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

John Oliver, married Sylvia R M Goodchild Jan-Feb-Mar 1958, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

John Oliver, born 3 Jul 1912, died Nov 1988, aged 76, St Albans, Hertfordshire

Janet E Oliver, born Jan Feb Mar 1947, mothers maiden name Hayaman (mispelt), Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Janet E Oliver, Brian M Guise, married Apr-May-Jun 1973, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Brian Macdonald Guise, born 18 Apr 1937, died 1977, Watford, Hertfordshire

Janet E Guise, married Frederick W Baddeley, Oct-Nov-Dec 1979, Dacorum, Hertfordshire

Hope that helps a little for now,

Hello again,

As luck would have it, I can kick things off here I've actually been looking at one of these branches recently and can provide some detail on the line down from Charles, b.1907.

As you'll see Charles married Kathleen Pratley (who I believe was known as Kitty) in 1928 and together they had 6 children, 5 daughters and 1 son.

Kitty appears to have died very young, aged just 44, in 1951, Charles lived well into his 80s and died in 1993.

All of those that have passed away in the above diagram are buried at Finstock:

Rose already mentioned that Charles lived in Finstock at 'Stonewold' but if there if there are any advances on any of the above or more details please feel free to add.

Thanks for now,

Hi All,

For a while now (thanks to Irene for sharing it) we've had a really nice photo of the children of Herbert Henry and Jayne Oliver (nee Holyfield) in the photo gallery.

Standing at the back are (left to right) Harry, Charles, Albert, George, William and John (Jack), seated are Jacie Porter, Louisa Porter (nee Oliver) and Harold.

The year is 1946 at the wedding of Louisa and Jacie Porter in Finstock

With both Rose, daughter of John (Jack), and Irene, daughter of William now amongst us its seems like a good time to focus in on this family branch in more detail and see if we're able to map the tree and descendants down from Herbert and Jayne.

Here is the family with the line 'back' to Josiah in 1676.

So, that's back, but how does the family pan out forwards in time - hopefully we can look at that through this thread.
