I'm pleased to say that I'm still alive and also haven't been wiped of the earth by the plague, swine flu or alike!
My word though, how the last 2 or 3, or is it 4 or 5!, months have flown by with one thing and another (and another, and another and another) and sadly the family history has had to go on the back burner.
I'm am however now preparing for a resurgence in activity - hurrah - so hopefully we can all get some more new activity going here on the board.
There have been a couple of new members joining in the last month or so, so our little group of 'Oliver hunters' is continuing to grow - which of course, is great!.
Hello Rene and Linda ... and nice to have some company on the Oliver board again.
Don't worry, Rene, Oxfordshire hasn't been wiped off the map. Everyone just seems to be too busy for family history. I had a really busy summer getting one book finished (my history of the former grammar school in Witney) and now have to finish a family history commission which has to be ready for Christmas. It is more or less done apart from the charts which are causing some headaches, especially as I've now discovered extra children on the 1911 census who have to be squeezed in somewhere. It's nothing to do with Olivers, but is about the Early family who made blankets in Witney for more than 300 years.
I don't think I have any new Oliver snippets to report at all. But I am always keeping a look out for them on your behalf and will let you know if I come across anything.
The weather has been fantastic and I've been out walking and the 1911 has just become available on my Findmypast membership - that's what's keeping me quiet. Something has turned up on the entry for my G.G. grandparents, William A. and Elizabeth, which I didn't know about. They had 10 children only 9 survived. It's a trip to the Library to go through the Parish Records to see if I can find a baptism or burial - unless any of you out there has any info on this.
I've also found my Grampy's family after finding the key that I needed on the 1911. It has been an interesting journey but he's not an Oliver so it's probably not appropriate to tell the story on this site.
The tips that Jane keeps slipping in have also been very useful.
Bye for now from a lovely sunny day in Oxfordshire - Linda
