I was browsing through some of the earlier threads and came across this picture of Stonesfield Silver Band. Some of the members of the band are part of the Barrett/Oliver connection, e.g. Norman, Geoffrey, Susan, Bernard and Kathleen Barrett and John and Roger Evins. (I have a copy of the book and I think the photo you have posted in this thread is clearer than the one in the actual book! Congratulations on the great job you are doing with this website.)
I can't help with Michael Oliver at all, but I think Jill Oliver may have been the daughter of Ben Oliver. She had a brother and sister, and I think she was the youngest in the family. They lived next door to John Nunn and his family.
Thanks for that lead, will have a look into it and see where it takes us.... there are a good few details there, parents etc that can hopefully link into somwhere.
On the Michael Oliver front, I've located some other Olivers in Chipping Norton in the late 1900's which are not our family (see new entry on message board), he may even be linked with that family.... more investigation required.
Thanks for Dorothy's details too, as she wrote the book and was in the same band, I think she would have a good idea on information and Ron and Jill ...
Thanks again, hope you're enjoying the sunshine..... Shane
Whilst browsing through a couple of books, two or three new Olivers jumped out at me, and ones that I personally can't locate in my tree, wondering if anyone is familar or aware of them?
They are all Silver Band Members. image below are circa 1950's.
Firstly.
In Dorothy Calcutt's 'My Three Hats' we find a Ron and Jill Oliver, husband and wife? brother and sister?, cousins?
Here is the Stonesfield Silver Band line up, including the books author Dorothy and her husband Frank:
This is Ron:
Here is Jill:
Secondly.
In the 'Changing Faces of Chipping Norton' book we find what looks like a young and fresh faced Michael Oliver, this is the Chipping Norton Silver Band c.1952/53.
Here's Michael:
Again, does anyone recognise Michael - potentially, lets say he is 12-14'ish in this picture, he could well still we alive today?
